Enterprises that are solely driven by money (sometimes plain greed), or put euphemistically, driven solely by economic growth and profitability, but without respect for people, society and the natural world, or just neutral on these most profound of matters (in other words, most enterprises of the contemporary industrialised world), are part of the problem. They are destroying the world, and there is a need to reinvent the free market enterprise. Here we will consider how companies can initiate transformation and begin to reinvent, not just themselves, but the nature of western industrial capitalism. It is actually easier than most people might think, but not for those caught up in industrial era ideologies and seeking to hold on to the past (this is a big part of the challenge—modern enterprises in appearance only; minds and feet firmly planted in the past).
