e2002 - Social Events

Conference delegates often regret later that they were too busy to notice their surroundings. There is a tour programme for the following weekend that will give you the opportunity to see the sights of Prague and the local countryside. Another benefit is that you can take advantage of cheap APEX flights, by staying over a Saturday night, and many hotels offer reasonable weekend rates. During the three days of the conference there is a full programme of tours, so why not take the chance to make e2002 a really valuable and enjoyable break for you and your partner.

Gala Reception

The Minorite Monastery of St James, which with the adjacent church forms one of the most interesting sites of old Prague, combines architectural styles from Gothic to Baroque. It is closed to the general public but, after reconstruction work in January 2002, was opened for cultural activities. It was the venue for:

  • The Coronation in 1311 of John of Luxembourg
  • The Wedding and Banquet of John of Luxembourg and Elizabeth of Pfemyslids
  • The issuing of the Prague privileges by Charles IV

The site has also been chosen as the venue for the e2002 Gala Reception on Thursday 17 October.

Partners Programme

Partners may attend any buffet luncheon and the Gala Reception at special prices that are heavily subsidised to less than half price: 10 euros for each lunch and 30 euros for the Reception. Partners may attend the cocktail at 17.30 on Wednesday 16 October without charge. In addition they may book for a number of tours arranged especially for them by La Bohéme, the site agents.

Wednesday afternoon

Artistic City Tour
Prague Castle, Strahov Monastery, Loretto, St Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal
Palace, Golden Lane, St Nicolas Church (4 hours 30 euro).

Thursday 17 October

The Castles of Konopiysty and Karlstejn
Bus tour to the 13th century Konopiysty hunting castle with its famous collections and to the impressive Gothic Karlstejn castle built by Charles IV for the crown jewels and other treasures (7 hours, 39 euro)

Friday 18 October

Kutna Hora
Tour to the Silver Town which in the Middle Ages was the residence of the Bohemian Kings. Visit includes Cathedral, Gothic and Baroque buildings, Main Square with Renaissance Houses (4 hours, 35 euro)

All tours start from the Corinthia Towers Hotel, are accompanied by an English-speaking guide and include many entrance fees. Prices are in euros.

Panoramic City Tour
A drive past the most outstanding historical monuments and a walk to Old Town Square, Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge, New Town, Wenceslas Square. (4hours, 22 euro).

Saturday afternoon

Vlatava River Cruise
Fantastic river views of historic monuments Rudolfinium, Charles Bridge, National Theatre. Coffee and cake on board (2 hours, 18 euro)

Saturday Evening

Prague by Night
Becherovka aperitif, four course Czech menu, beer, coffee and music. Short visit to illuminated Prague: Prague Castle, Nerudova Street, Charles Bridge (approximately 5 hours, 41 euro).

Sunday 20 October

Sunday Morning

Prague's Jewish Quarter
Visits old Jewish Cemetery and principal synagogues: Klausen, Pinkas, and Maisel (4 hours, 35 euro).

Tours start from the Corinthia Towers Hotel, are accompanied by an English-speaking guide and include most entrance fees.
