IST 2001 - "Technologies Serving People"

3-5 December, 2001, Dusseldorf, Germany

The Information Society Technologies 2001 event, held in Dusseldorf Germany, December 3-5, 2001, showcased IST exhibits, as well as providing a forum for debate on the central themes of the impact of information technologies. There were discussions concerning the place of the IST Programme within the European Union's Sixth Research Framework Programme. Erkki Liikanen, European Commissioner for Enterprise and Information Society, gave a number of speeches relating to the issues discussed. IST 2001 was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, SMEs, Energy and Transport of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
